About this Learning Experience

Located at the bottom of Nui Lon and overlooking the East Sea, the white mansion is one of the major historical landmarks of Vung Tao. The construction of the building began in early 1898 and was completed in 1916. Standing on a 6 hectare plot, the Villa is surrounded by jasmine trees, flowers and ornamental plants. In 1788, during the Nguyen dynasty, a fortress called Phuoc Thang was built to control the sea. Many French warships were destroyed by gunshots from the fortress during the Vietnam war. From its balcony, there is a breathtaking view of the sea surrounding landscapes. This site exhibits hundreds of antique collections and has been established as a cultural destination that attracts tourists from around the globe. It is also a great place to admire how a historical building can still remain in good condition despite construction works in the surrounding areas. This Learning Experience will teach you more about the different types of rocks and their respective properties. You will also study further about the effects of environmental and human-induced factors on the rocks. This Learning Experience is suitable for upper secondary school, year 4-5.
