About this Place Of Interest


Located about 6km from Bangkok city, the Bang Sai arts and crafts centre is a major tourist attraction in Thailand. The building was designed by Queen Sirikit to preserve traditional Thai crafts. The four-storey building houses art and craft collections from all four regions of Thailand. Some popular handmade crafts found here are artificial flowers, textiles, gold ornaments, hand woven silk and cotton, wood carvings and home made furniture.

About this Learning Experience


This Learning Experience will teach you about how different materials are used to express culture and beliefs. This Learning Experience is suitable for secondary school students, year 1-3. Note: This Learning Experience will require you to prepare no-bake and baked clay at home. You will need to bring the clays to the point of interest to carry out an experiment. Materials: 1. 1 cup of flour (140g) 2. 105g of salt 3. 1 cup of water (225 ml) 4. 2-4 tablespoon of cooking oil 5. Oven Method 1 (For the No-bake Clay): 1. Add the flour and salt into a medium sized bowl. 2. Pour the water into the salt and flour and mix. 3. Stir the mixture until everything is combined into a dough like mixture. 4. Add about 2-4 tablespoon of oil into the mixture. This is to soften the clay and prevent it from becoming crumbly. 5. Using your hands, press and knead the mixture until it turns into a dough. Method 2 (For baking) : 1. Preheat the oven to 129 degree celsius. 2. Now, place the dough on a tray and put it into the oven for 15- 20 minutes. 3.
