About this Place Of Interest

The Cu Chi Tunnels are a 250km network of underground tunnels that served as a refuge and defensive stronghold for the Communist guerilla troops known as the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. In these dark and dank tunnels deep underground, the Viet Cong lived in entire communities - eating, sleeping, healing their sick and teaching their young on top of planning guerilla attacks. Some couples even got married and gave birth underground. Though under constant pressure from battle, vermin, diseases and food shortages, the Cu Chi tunnels gave the guerilla forces a fighting chance to live for another day.
