Located about 6km away from the city of Sanur, the Mangrove Information Centre provides educational information and activities related to the ecology and management of Mangroves. It was established with the funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and covers about 100 hectares of forest within the 1,375 hectare Taman Hutan Raya area in Ngurah Rai area. It was built to protect the mangrove forest from destruction, as a breeding ground for many aquatic animals and plants as well as to prevent soil erosion. The forest is well laid out with wooden bridges and huts for one to enjoy and study the beauty of mangrove forest.
This Learning Experience is about how the trees in mangroves depend use the mechanism of osmosis to survive in the harsh environments. You will also learn about the importance of mangroves to the environment. The Learning Experience is suitable for Lower Secondary school, year 1-3 students.
