About this Place Of Interest

Located at about 6km from the city of Sanur in Bali, the Mangrove Information Centre provides an excellent platform to learn about mangrove swamp ecology and management through several natural-forming exhibits where on-site educational activities are frequently conducted. Situated within the 1,375ha Taman Hutan Raya in the Ngurah Rai area, this invaluable piece of 100ha wetland forest was first set up with the funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for conservation purposes. Mangrove swamp serves as an ecological significant breeding ground for many aquatic animals, insects and plants. The rigid stilt roots also serve as a strong barrier to reduce coastal erosion caused by strong wind and wave. This forest is well laid out with wooden bridges and huts for visitors to enjoy and study the beauty of mangrove forest.
