About this Place Of Interest

Main Photograph: Vicsandtheworld/ Wikimedia Commons/ 2011 [1]. A visit to Marina Bay is nothing short of a mind-blowing experience, especially for tourists visiting the Lion City for the very first time. The 360-hectare area is located in the centre of the city and is surrounded by four major planning areas, namely Downtown Core, Marina East, Marina South and Straits View. The development of this cosmopolitan city-state, as well as the extension of the city’s Central Business District located on south of Singapore River was made possible due to land reclamation works in the 1970s. One of the most sought-after photography spots at Marina Bay is the Merlion - the republic’s mystical symbol. Next comes Marina Bay Sands. It was launched in 2010 as an integrated resort fronting Marina Bay and features the world’s largest luxury and elevated Infinity Pool, which is 150 metres long and 191 metres above the ground. The Marina Bay Sands SkyPark also provides tourists a 360-degree panorama of Singapore, while the Gardens by the Bay is a nature park covering 101 hectares of land. Then comes the Esplanade, featuring the republic’s performing arts theatres and occupying a 60,000 square metre area. It is located near the mouth of the Singapore River and is easily recognised from a distance by its striking durian-shape structure. These are just some of the attractions at Marina Bay.
