About this Place Of Interest

The Eka Kaya Botanical Garden is a place known for the conservation of plants, botanical research and recreation. Away from the southern island heat, it provides a rather cooling atmosphere with beautiful scenery in its forest and mountainous setting. Apart from this, the garden is also the site for field explorations which is well-equipped with seed collections, living collections of various trees and ferns and a herbarium. The flower gymnosperms hail all the way from Netherlands, Australia, Japan, China, North and South America. There is also a traditional Balinese house located within the gardens, called the Ethnobotany Building which houses the garden’s collection of ethnobotanical artifacts. Plant breeding programmes are also carried out to identify plants which are capable of genetic pollution and diseases.
