About this Place Of Interest

Located in the northwest of Ho Chi Minh CIty, the historical site comprises about 200 km of underground tunnels with different types of traps, camouflaged doors, living areas, a kitchen, a medical treatment room, storage facilities, armouries and command centres. The tunnels were dug with shovels and bare hands which took place over a period of 25 years. The tunnels were first used as means of communication between the villagers to evade the French army. They were then expanded during the American war by installing air-filtration systems to aid with survival in the tunnels during carpet bombings by the Americans. The tunnels have been preserved after the war ended and are now part of the Vietnam War Memorial Park.
