About this Place Of Interest

In the 19th century, Batu Caves, a limestone hill, became the site for a temple dedicated to the Hindu god, Lord Murugan, when an Indian trader believed that the cave entrance was shaped like a vel, the weapon of choice for the god. Up to today, Batu Caves remains extremely popular among Hindu devotees, tourists, and rock-climbers alike, and is the destination for thousands of Hindu pilgrims during the annual Thaipusam festival.
